RSI was responsible for removing hydrocarbon contaminated soils at various depths and locations throughout the plant site. During excavation activities a great deal of caution was taken to segregate the contaminated soils from the non-contaminated soil. During excavation activities many unexpected sewer lines and utilities were encountered. Phase two of this project included the removal of four 10,000 gallon #6 fuel oil tanks which were previously closed in place and filled with a grout. These tanks were located inside a manufacturing building one story below ground in a concrete vault. The tanks were cut into manageable pieces and removed with a hydraulic shear.
